Ownership & funding
Who owns and operates The Daily Canberra, how it is funded, and who is accountable for what we publish.
Part of The Daily Network, a group of local news sites under common ownership and produced centrally by one small team. We are editorially independent, and our articles are produced with AI assistance and automation under human oversight and our editorial standards.
Who operates this site
The Daily Canberra is part of The Daily Network, a group of local news sites that share common ownership. Shane Anderson is the Founder. The sites are produced centrally by one small, technology-led team rather than by a separate newsroom based in each city, so the publisher is not necessarily a local resident of Canberra. The Network is independent of any large media group, political organisation or institutional investor. The publisher sets editorial policy, maintains the content safeguards and is accountable, at the masthead level, for everything published about Canberra, Australia.
How we are funded
We are funded by reader support, advertising and sponsorship. Advertising and sponsored content are labelled and kept separate from editorial decisions; our sponsored content policy explains how. No advertiser, sponsor or investor directs our coverage.
Use of AI
The Daily Canberra is an AI-assisted newsroom. AI helps with research, summarising and drafting from named public sources, with automated checks and human oversight before publication. Articles are bylined to the publication or desk, never to an invented human author. Our editorial standards page sets out in full how we use AI and where a human is in control.
Accountability & corrections
We are accountable for what we publish and correct errors quickly and on the record. To request a correction or raise a concern, email corrections@dailynetwork.news or see our corrections and complaints page. General enquiries go to our contact page.
