Local News, Canberra. Every Day.

Multiple Sources. Transparent Technology.

Ownership & funding

Who owns and operates The Daily Canberra, how it is funded, and who is accountable for what we publish.

Part of The Daily Network, a group of local news sites under common ownership and produced centrally by the Daily Network editorial team. We are editorially independent, and our articles are AI-assisted journalism under human editorial accountability and risk-based review, with our reasonable editorial care. Some lower-risk material may be published automatically after sourcing, accuracy and safety checks.

Who operates this site

The Daily Canberra is part of The Daily Network, a group of local news sites that share common ownership. Shane Anderson is the Founder. The Daily Network editorial team produces every site centrally, not through a separate city newsroom, so the publisher is not necessarily a local resident of Canberra. The Network is independent of any large media group, political organisation or institutional investor. The publisher sets editorial policy, maintains the content safeguards and is accountable, at the masthead level, for everything published about Canberra, Australia.

How we are funded

We are funded by reader support, advertising and sponsorship. Advertising and sponsored content are labelled and kept separate from editorial decisions; our sponsored content policy explains how. No advertiser, sponsor or investor directs our coverage.

Use of AI

The Daily Network editorial team uses AI to help research, summarise and draft from named public sources. Coverage is AI-assisted journalism under human editorial accountability and risk-based review: automated checks run before publication, and sensitive material is held for human review. Some lower-risk material may be published automatically after sourcing, accuracy and safety checks. Articles are bylined to the publication or desk, never to an invented human author. Our reasonable editorial care page sets out in full how we use AI and where a human is in control.

Accountability & corrections

We are accountable for what we publish and correct errors quickly and on the record. To request a correction or raise a concern, email corrections@dailynetwork.news or see our corrections and complaints page. General enquiries go to our contact page.
